Traditional book reports are tedious to do and even more tedious to grade!! This is an interactive way to get kids excited about doing a report, allows you to grade as they are presenting their project, and even aligns with the Speaking and Listening parts of the Common Core State Standards!
The handout is in Word Doc form so you can change whatever you need in order to make it fit your classroom. The genre is set to Science -Fiction, but if you want them to read a different genre, feel free to adjust as needed.
Simply make copies or have students take notes from the one form as you project it. Students will need to get a book from the library. The whole project can be done at home, so it doesn't take away from classroom instruction, yet still provides students with that independent reading experience we all want them to have. Or you can give classroom time for silent reading.
